Dr. Irene Mitry is a compassionate, knowledgeable and professional vet who graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) from Cairo University, Egypt, in 2002. Upon arriving in Australia, she aspired to serve the local community and so completed another Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) from the University of Queensland, graduating in 2008.
As a life-long animal lover, Irene’s veterinary skills and philosophy of care are second to none, as so many of her clients and patients will tell you (see Testimonials below). Clyde Veterinary Hospital is the realisation of her vision of putting those skills to ultimate use in her own purpose built standalone clinic, with husband Albert managing the administrative operations at the hospital.
OUR CLINICAL PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Mitry’s philosophy places a strong emphasis on preventative care and medicine – she takes a long term and holistic view of your pet’s health that incorporates behaviour as well as conventional medical concerns.
In addition to her two degrees, Irene is experienced in performing a range of soft tissue, bone and dentistry surgeries. As well as treating a range of small companion animals, including Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Ferrets, Rodents and Birds.
No matter how unusual your veterinary concern, she is truly the best vet for your pet.

Our infectious diseases consulting suite is accessed directly via our private carpark, eliminating any risk of infection to other pets.
Hospitalisation is a stressful process for any animal, and at Clyde Veterinary Hospital, we do our utmost to keep their stress at a minimum.
Separate dog and cat waiting areas and consulting rooms help ‘keep the peace’ in our clinic.
We employ best practice pre-anaesthetic testing for any adverse reactions or possible complications during surgery.
At Clyde Vet, we obtain blood test and x-ray results in a matter of minutes, rather than days – because rapid diagnosis and treatment of your pet’s condition is so often crucial to success.
Digital ‘soft copy’ results can be sent to you for permanent keeping, plus they are quicker, cheaper and far less cumbersome than traditional film-based x-rays.

Caring and capable
Dr Irene Mitry has years of direct hands-on veterinary experience and a loyal and dedicated customer base which has allowed her to realise her dream of bringing to Southeast Melbourne the best possible pet care in world’s best practice clinical facilities.
Better than cure
Clyde Veterinary Hospital philosophy is strongly focused on preventative care, and we take a long term view to the well-being of your beloved pets. We’re always about what is best for your pets over the longest timeframe.
DOG & CAT AREAS
We are a cat-friendly veterinary clinic – meaning we have separate cat and dog waiting and hospitalisation areas, which significantly reduces the stress on our feline friends in particular during their stay at Clyde’s friendliest, lowest-stress vet facility.
Our clinic boasts a truly enormous 43 square metre sunlit outdoor recreation area, which is great if your pet gets a bit restless while waiting for treatment, or if they need to board or require hospitalisation with us, we ensure your pet is returned to you well exercised.
A trip to the vet clinic can be a stressful experience for pets. At Clyde Veterinary Hospital, we keep stress to a minimum, using anti-stress Adaptil diffusers and spray for dogs and Feliway for cats in our dedicated separated dog and cat areas.
A stress-free environment for your precious companions, making Clyde Vet the best choice for your pet’s welfare.
